Angela Neller is the Curator for the Wanapum Heritage Center. Angela spent the previous eight years as Curator for the Illinois Transportation Archaeological Research Program at the University of Illinois including four years as Curator for the Laboratory of Anthropology in the Department of Anthropology. Prior to that, she was the Archaeology Laboratory Supervisor and Archaeology Collection Manager at the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum in Honolulu. Professionally, Angela is experienced in the preservation and management of archaeological collections. She has planned and implemented several large-scale inventory and rehabilitation projects, provided access to collections, and planned and implemented NAGPRA compliance projects. As a Native Hawaiian, Angela is particularly interested in the relationship of material culture and history to the identity of native people. Her research topics include the changing role of objects through history, NAGPRA and its affect on the Hawaiian community, and the role of the museum in preserving material culture and perpetuating native communities.
